Some people - especially people from IP 212.235.107.45 (Hi Israel Spambots! P.S. - Your IP is now BANNED) - might have noticed that when they apply for registration on the site, unlike MOST sites, you don't acknowledge the e-mail confirmation and get access to the site right away.
Why is this?
Well - it seems that there are a number of nasty horrible people who think that it's their god-given RIGHT to join forums and them post HUGE AMOUNTS OF MIND-NUMBING SPAM that people REALLY DON'T WANT to read!
In order to fight the increasing amount of spam bots and stop them filling my nice place with their mindless CRAP (it's for MY mindless crap damnit!) I've instituted measures to spot suspicious accounts and place them in holding until I can view the details and approve or [as is more often the case] delete the account manually.
So if you apply for registration and after performing your e-mail verification, your account is still USER PENDING MODERATION - now you know why!
