Some whinging FEMALE at The Herald Sun (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25901497-5000117,00.html) had an OPINION on the fact that women aren't allowed in the Melbourne Club because they're WOMEN.
Imagine that!! Someone in THIS DAY AND AGE of ENLIGHTENMENT and EQUALITY having the (dare I say it) BALLS or (being more PC about it) TEMERITY to exclude someone from somewhere based solely on their GENDER!!!
Oh wait - isn't that what WOMEN do at FERNWOOD and other female only gymnasiums?
Oh stop your whinging...
I say - if women can have Fernwood and like clubs as women only gyms, then men SHOULD be allowed to have their OWN clubs as men only as well. Anything less is hypocritical.
And don't give me that whole "we want to be able to be free to exercise without being objectified and oggled by MEN" speech. It's still a double standard. Oh, and speaking as a male, I'm offended at the generalisation that all men objectify women and treat them as sex objects. I might appreciate the female form, but hey - I'm a guy - I'm wired that way by nature. BUT - it doesn't mean I don't have respect for women and can't treat them with dignity!
You women want to have your cake and eat it too.
Either you ACCEPT that women get to have places "to be women without the oggling of men" and therefore men also get to be free to relax without "being hassled by WOMEN" (there's those generalisations again, on both sides!), or NO-ONE gets to exclude ANYONE from anywhere based on their gender!
